Happy New Year!

To mark the beginning of 2021, some of the Tubers headed out to Forgans Cove for a float at the weekend. Despite an abundance of fish on the sounder, the only thing caught and landed was Jaybee by himself as a wayward woolly bugger hooked his tube 😲 See if you can spot it...

Fortunately for him, the hook went clean through without piercing the inner tube and causing some mid lake entertainment for the others. His and the club tubes have 4 air bladders in total, so tubers would have to be very unlucky to pop the lot!

But that's why we always wear a life jacket folks 👍👍👍 ...

Well, it’s a bit late, but finally we can thank our hosts for a Christmas party to end all Christmas parties. Geoff and his wonderful family put on a great feed, and Jono set a challenging casting competition around Geoff’s garden. I reckon it had to be home ground advantage, but Kobi managed to take out the challenge and won the FlyLife merch. Well done Kobi - now we move into summer recess awaiting out Tillapia Slaughter and Club open day. Hope to see you all after Aussie Day. ...

One of our esteemed members Tim Kempton (Casting Instructor) is convening an informal, non structured session this Wed (2nd Dec) and then every Thursday night as a regular feature at Colleges Crossing for people who want to improve their casting and fishing skills. This venue provides water, lighting and BBQ facilities.

This is a non club event and open to anyone who is keen to learn, practice and develop their skills.

The plan is to cast, and then bring something to eat/drink and share ideas if people want. We all have so much to offer and we can all learn from each other. I am offering to share whatever help I can, but together we can learn

The key is practise, practice until it becomes second nature. If then when the fish are not biting, you get the simple pleasure out of the grace and beauty of the fluid motion of casting…it never gets tiring as the loops get better, and the effort required gets less.
The first night was a success!

We focused on the foundations for distance, stream craft and casting 6wt rod/line for trout.
Bring a 6wt rod, WF6F line. Safety glasses, High Spirits and something to eat if you wish to stay.
Start 5 pm. The Park closes at 9pm
